Taquería El Gallo

Yeah, lousy tacos. Not sure how they climbed up so high...
Place is filthy, and my order came out wrong--an unfortunate taco truck and there are many others to choose from.

Couldn't decide what to have on my lunch break, so I tried this taco truck. 1 beef & 1 chicken taco and a glass bottled coke, my lunch was awesome! I'll definitely be back.

UPDATE 10/4/2015: The last 2 times I have gotten tacos de pollo here, they have tasted like rotting chicken and gravy on tortillas. Gross to the point of gagging. Nothing like they used to be at all. Both visits were about a month apart, this past summer.

I was hoping it was a rogue fill-in for the summer who snuck his or her own recipe in, but it looks like the original cooks from this truck are now running a blue taco truck next to Ooblies (according to a recent review).

For now, I am downgrading to 2 stars, and not 1 because the boys seemed to be ok with their carne asada tacos.

Great tacos de pollo. I've had many a chicken street taco and the flavors of this particular cart's tacos are unmatched. The tacos are never dry, perfectly seasoned and the jalapenos and carrots en escabeche are to die for. I just went down to Sonoma, where there seem to be taco carts galore, and their mediocrity reminded me of just how great El Gallo's tacos are.

Also, I am pretty sure the tacos at this cart taste better than the tacos at the taqueria on Oakdale.

As of 2015 the cooks were fired and had to move on, now they have some kids running it who absolutely cannot compare to the guys before! If you liked this place, you can find the same guys who used to work there running a blue taco truck on riverside next to ooblies. Only now they are even better because they made a few changes like adding roasted onion along with the usual lime, radish, roasted jalapeño, and spicy carrots!

Can't go wrong with $1 tacos on Sunday. Any type of taco for only $1. Can't go wrong with this taco truck. Great to eat there or eat in your car.

One of the best taco trucks around...scratch that, some of the best Mexican food in the Rogue Valley.
This unassuming taco truck is situated in a parking lot with a liquor store and a car wash. So after you finish your killer tacos you can wash your filthy car and then pick up some whiskey while you're at it.
This great location on West Main is the backdrop to a small seating arrangement of a canopy and a set of clean plastic picnic tables, which is more than many taco trucks usually provide. So plus one here.
I'm taking too long to get to the food. I usually get three carne asada tacos. They are served authentic style with radishes, carrot and a grilled jalapeno and the meat on two corn tortillas with plenty of cilantro and onions. There is also a spicy red sauce that really finishes them out. These things are great.
Also not to be missed is their burritos. Delicious beans, rice, meat and spices tightly wrapped in a flour tortilla and then even more tightly wrapped in foil. You can eat these on the go mission style. Great burritos! I may even like their burrito more than the tacos.
Looking forward to trying out the other options on the menu.
Definitely stop by and try these guys out. You will not likely regret it.
UPDATE: regretfully this place is super inconsistent and always has new people working it. So sometimes it's amazing, other times not so much. Still not terrible but not as good as my original review.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area where I am a big fan of our many varied taco trucks. I am a regular vistor to Ashland and Southern Oregon. This taco truck (El Gallo) in Medford rivals the best in San Francisco or Oakland. It is ALWAYS worth a trip out of the way to enjoy! Some of the best tacos de tripa that I have ever had (and I won't eat just anyone's tripa)!

This place is rad and the store right next to it is super awesome. It makes me feel like I'm still in LA. Great quality and inexpensive. No pretense. Great.
