Dragon-i Peking Duck, Pavilion

If you're visiting Kuala Lumpu and craving Peking duck, this place is a must try. If I ever go to KL again, definitely going here. Don't let the fact that this restaurant is in a mall fool you. There are alot of great restaurants in the Pavilion mall. It's not like a tgif or cheesecake factory. Not that there's anything wrong with the cheesecake factory. I know there is a certain type of perception about mall restaurants. The quality of this place is like a standalone restaurant so don't let that scare you away.
We came here specifically for the Peking duck and it didn't disappoint. I think it came with about 10 wrappers. I don't have the duck that often but here, they separate the crispy skin for you to dip into sugar. You would never think to do that and it was so tasty. They also point out when they carve your duck. Some places will make a rice dish or soup with the rest of the duck but they don't do that here. We were wondering where the rest of the duck went. We also got their soup dumplings and pork floss bun. The soup dumpling was large and pretty good, even better than some dim sum places in Chicago. It tasted like they made it in house. I really great dinner.
Just a note if you don't use the wet naps, let the cashier know to remove it from your bill.

Service was very quick. Got the whole Peking duck with xiao long bao. Xlb was huge and very good and flavorful. Whole Peking duck is a must. So much good food with a third dish to choose. I got the black truffle egg noodle with duck. Tastes great when it is fresh but doesn't hold well during takeout. I was stuffed after eating the duck and xlb that I ended up taking the noodles for a snack later.

We visited Dragon-i in Pavilon Bukit Bintang at around 11:30am on a weekday, no reservation required. Place was empty, but service was good. Though a Chinese restaurant, few of their server really understand Chinese. We ordered Peking Duck, but they don't have the 2 style and 3 style, just Peking Duck wraps once they served the crispy skin with a duck meat, not very traditional. We also ordered the imitation crab dish, but they didn't served with vinegar, which was strange as the taste was very brand. Since most of the servers didn't understand Chinese or English, perhaps this is not very authentic Chinese dishes. However, the other vegetable dishes are OK, the Beef with green onion is not spicy, which was great. The fried spring beans had some minced chicken meat, which was unusual. All in all, I like the ambience, the service and food needs to be much more authentic. It's a waste of food, if they don't serve 2 style or 3 style for the Peking Duck. That's the reason I gave it a 3.5 star

I love their food a lot, especially the Xiao Long Pao, I would say the best in town and it is my MUST-ORDER food when I visit the restaurant. It comes with 4 pieces per dish and it serves the best with ginger and vinegar sauce. Please eat while it is still hot, it is so YUMMY!!!

Apart from that, only this Pavilion branch serves super nice Peking roasted duck! The roasted duck skin is so crispy and it tastes so good when you dipped it with sugar. I enjoyed the roasted duck by wrapping together with the side dishes and sweet sauce. Pretty decent environment and friendly customer service, it was a good dining experience.

Dragon-I at Pavilion is one of my favorite fine dining chinese restaurants around. They used to serve really good dim sum but have since stopped serving dim sum, now they only have dim sum at the Canton I outlets.

Dragon I serves up really yummy dishes such as the salted egg yolk prawns and scallops with broccoli. they also have a dragon fruit juice which i love and have failed to find anywhere else. service is so-so i find the waitresses quite stuck up and not friendly, they wont even smile at you. I guess cause Dragon I has that very fancy feel to it so they act fancy too.

Besides the service everything else here is pretty good albeit the price which is expensive for chinese dishes. Can go up to RM200 for about 3 people ordering 3-4 dishes.

Both my main course and appetizer was super bland. There was no use of seasoning at all. I did not get a chance to try the dumplings, but the noodles and tofu was a waste of time and money. The only thing that I did enjoy was the fruit tea.

I used to think that Dragon-I was some high class China based restaurant. Why? This is because I remembered seeing replicas of Terracotta warriors standing at the entrance's walkway and all that was visible from the entrance itself was the waiting area. When I was younger, I imagined myself dining in some palace, probably the one in the forbidden city. Of course, that's not true. Inside, it is even more exquisite.

Whenever I have my dinner at Dragon-I, I would be sure to order the La Mian (noodles) with minced meat. The meal looks very simple but the flavours are there and the noodle felt as if it was homemade from scratch.

The dim sum dishes are cooked with care too, or at least it felt that a some effort was put into. I like the steam pig buns. It is cute, but it also taste great! Not forgetting the custard bun that I would always order, Dragon-I have never failed me in making a good custard bun.

When I was younger I used to really really love the food in Dragon-I. Their noodles and their soup, their dumplings and their oh so adorable piggy looking dumplings and the ever so soft and delicious peanuts.

Nowadays Dragon-I is one of the to-go places if you're looking for a good quality Chinese food outlet with a cozier and more comfortable get together. The restaurant is designed with an Oriental hue and like how the Chinese love it, the interior are spacious to host groups. The restaurant can get rather vibrant as times with families engrossed in laughter and conversations but that's the beauty in Malaysian and Chinese restaurants.

The food is not as good as years back, I just feel that they use more artificial flavouring now. After my favourite bowl of beef noodle I can always feel like lips dried up like a prune. Sign that they are using tad a little bit too much Ajinomoto, or yikes, maybe a lousier quality one. However, on taste though, the food are very full flavoured and have great texture, especially the noodles. On the price though, expect to spend about RM20 or more per meal depending on the food you order. I highly recommend this place for your family event or gatherings of bigger groups.

All thanks to my friend's dad, he brought me and their family here for dinner. I was honored and pleased to dine here in Dragon-I in Pavilion. Though, they charge at relatively extensively high but with their warm and chilly ambient. It certainly worth every dime.

My friend's dad order the dishes and it was scrumptious even though I can't really remember the dishes. However, I do know that their Xiu Long Pau are utterly delicious. In fact , the best that you could find in Kuala Lumpur. One thing in particular I love the most is their, table and cutlery. Ancient yet very classy modified and with their efficient service which makes it more delightful. Besides, their dim sum here are DAMN good as well. I once tried their a la carte menu which are pretty good. Beware though, their portion are pretty small so you might end up hungry again so I suggest here for just probably a snack or tea time.

Overall, I am very pleased with their extraordinary food and service. Just don't expect to be cheap and decent.
